The 2010 Summer School will be held at the University of Manchester from Weds 8th to Fri 10th September.
For more information visit the conference website.
The Annual Summer School is open to members and non-members and is usually held over four days in September at a different location each year. It creates an ideal opportunity to attend lectures, exhibitions, seminars and workshops, as well as to visit a broad spectrum of cartographic establishments.
The friendly and relaxed atmosphere is also ideal for informal discussions with fellow cartographers and is a pleasant and stimulating way to keep up to date with new technology. It is especially beneficial for those cartographers working within small cartographic units who can perhaps remain isolated from new developments and trends within cartographic circles.
The 2009 Summer School was held at Southampton University, and some of the papers presented at the conference can be found via this link. One of the themes running through the conference was Google mash-ups, so it seemed appropriate to quickly put a couple together (courtesy of Mike Shand, Glasgow University), one to show the location of delegates at this years conference, the other to show the history of Summer School conference locations.
Each year at the Summer School the Wallis Award is presented. Bursaries are available to help student and overseas members to attend the Summer School (Bursary application form)
