Acceptable Use Policy
The CARTO-SoC List is the Society of Cartographer's listserv (automatic mailer) for the discussion of practical cartography. Anyone with an interest in cartography is welcome to subscribe and submit to the List. Please remember that the Society does have a reputation of being very friendly, so we ask that non-members do tolerate a reasonable level of friendly banter between members. If you would like to join the Society, take a look at our membership pages.
The List is Moderated; the Society reserves the right to withhold from the List any submissions which they deem unsuitable, offensive or unacceptable in any way. Material that the Moderator deems to be offensive, obscene, defamatory or indecent, or would be likely to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety will be withheld from submission.
Job vacancy adverts and commercial postings to the List are welcome providing they are directly relevant to the field of cartography and are carrying new information. Commercial submissions of a general nature and speculative postings of CV's and such like will be withheld.
The Society reserves the right to edit or amend submissions; new material submitted to the List will normally be moderated unedited, reposted material will normally be edited for brevity.
By submitting an article to CARTO-SoC you agree that copyright of that text is invested in the Society of Cartographers, and that this material may be subsequently used by the Society.
Provision of the CARTO-SoC List is kindly provided by the University of Sheffield, thus use of the List is also falls within the JANET AUP (http://www.ja.net/company/policies/aup.html).
Unless stated within the posting, the views expressed on CARTO-SoC should be taken as personal opinion only, and not representative of the Society of Cartographers or any other organisation or company.
If
you have any comments, queries or complaints about the CARTO-SoC List, please
contact the List Moderator Graham Allsopp.
